Felger & Mazz: Cam Neely On The Acquisition of Jaromir Jagr
Felger and Massarotti were joined by Boston Bruins president Cam Neely to discuss, first and foremost, the Bruins' trade for Jaromir Jagr.
"He's offensively put up numbers year after year after year. He's a big body and protects the puck extremely well," Neely said. "He can do a great job protecting the puck and do a great job on the power play, so all those things combined made it fairly easy for us to try to acquire him."
Where does Neely see Jagr fitting into the lineup?
"It'll be interesting to see where it shakes it out. I'm sure he'll be inserted in various lines to see where the best fit may be," Neely said. "Right now, [Nathan] Horton has it going and [David[ Krejci has played fairly well, pretty consistent throughout the year. So I would assume that he may start on a different line than that, but you never know how it will shake out. ... We'll see what makes best fit and gives us the best chance to get production from all three lines."
Neely was also asked how he expects Jagr to fit into Claude Julien's system.
"Jaromir has been in the league a long time and he knows what it takes to help hockey teams win and what it takes for him to play well," Neely saad. "Once he gets an understanding of our system and what the expectations are, I don't think it's going to be be an issue. More importantly, Iknow he's going to help us offensively."
