Felger & Mazz: Blue Jays Make Blockbuster Move To Shake Up AL East
Felger and Massarotti opened the day discussing the blockbuster trade between the Toronto Blue Jays and Miami Marlins.
The Blue Jays are receiving shortstop Jose Reyes, right-handed pitcher Josh Johnson, left-handed pitcher Mark Buehrle, catcher John Buck and utility player Emilio Bonifacio. In return, the Marlins get shortstop Yunel Escobar, right-handed pitcher Henderson Alvarez, veteran catcher Jeff Mathis, Cuban prospect Adeiny Hechavarria, pitching prospects Anthony Desclafani and Justin Nicolino, and outfield prospect Jake Marisnick.
What will this trade mean to the race in the AL East?
Should the Red Sox have attempted to make a move of this magnitude? What would the package of players, that the Red Sox would have to send to Miami to pull a trade like this off, look like?
