Felger & Mazz: April 25, 2013
Felger and Massarotti kicked off the day talking about tonight's start of the NFL Draft and what direction the New England Patriots will take. The Pats are drafting 29th in the first round. Should the Pats focus on offense or defense with their 1st-round pick? Reports say that there are teams that are interested in Patriots backup quarterback Ryan Mallett. Would the Pats be willing to move Mallett? How much value does Mallett have? Felger, Mazz, and Marc Bertrand look back at the 2011 and 2012 NFL Drafts. What did the Pats miss in those drafts? How would the guys re-draft the Top 5? Finally, it's the third round of firing highlighters at the big board to guess what direction the Pats may go in the NFL Draft.
Hour 1
In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz continued to discuss tonight's NFL Draft. Mike Milbury joined Felger and Massarotti to talk some Boston Bruins and their play heading into the playoffs. Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox beat the Oakland A's 6-5 in the series finale. The Sox took 2 of 3 games from the A's. Jon Lester went 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits, 6 walks, 3 earned runs, and striking out 5. Why was Lester bellyaching about the umps yesterday? If the calls were consistent, what is there to complain about?
Hour 2
During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, tonight's NFL was still the topic. Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe feels that the Pats should be looking at the Wide Receiver position. Are the Patriots overdue to draft an impact wide receiver? Felger and Massarotti were joined by the New England Patiots newest radio play-by-play announcer Bob Socci. Finally, Mazz and The Beetle go for the fourth round of highlighter throwing at the big board to see who the Pats should inquire about in the NFL Draft.
Hour 3
In the fourth and final hour, the guys were still focused on tonight's NFL Draft. Why do teams shy away from players that smoke marijuana? How will the rest of the AFC East approach the Draft tonight? Finally, it's the Final Word with Marc Bertrand.
