Felger & Mazz: April 22, 2013
Felger and Massarotti kicked off the talking about the weekend in Boston Sports. First, the guys discussed the Boston Celtics and their 85-78 Game 1 Playoff loss to the New York Knicks. What can the C's do to slow Carmelo Anthony down? The Boston Red Sox lost 2 of 3 games this weekend to the Kansas City Royals. Will the lack of offense hurt the Sox all season? How long of a leash will the Sox have for Stephen Drew? Finally, the Felger and Massarotti Show pauses for one-minute of silence to pay tribute to the all the victims of last week's bombings at the Boston Marathon.
Hour 1
In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz discussed some of the latest developments in the Boston Marathon bombings. Yesterday, the New York Jets traded cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for drafts picks, including a first-round pick in the upcoming draft. How will not paying Revis hurt the Jets?
Hour 2
During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, continued to discuss the Revis trade to the Buccaneers and Stephen Drew's struggles with teh Sox. Have their moves in the past couple years made the Buccaneers a playoff team? Should the Red Sox bring back Jose Iglesias to replace the struggling Stephen Drew? The Boston Bruins played twice this weekend. Saturday afternoon the Bruins lost 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins and yesterday they shutout the Florida Panthers 3-0. Is the Bruins biggest issue goaltending or their offense? On Saturday afternoon, the Red Sox hosted their first game at Fenway Park since the Boston Marathon bombing, and during the pregame ceremonies, David Ortiz dropped an F-Bomb. Was it appropriate? Did he go up there with the plan to curse? The crowd loved it and the FCC has forgiven Ortiz for his language.
Hour 3
In the fourth and final hour, Felger and Massarotti continued to discuss the Boston Marathon bombings and question the backgrounds of the suspects. The guys also took calls on all the topics they covered today. Including the Bruins as they approach the playoffs, the Celtics entering Game 2 against the New York Knicks, and the struggles of Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew. Finally, in the Final Word with Marc Bertrand, we hear a montage of the past week's events.
