Felger Expects Bruins Back In Stanley Cup Finals
BOSTON (CBS) - In the grand scheme of things a road game in early February doesn't mean much in the totality of an 82-game regular season.
However, even in defeat, Thursday night's game in St. Louis spoke volumes to Michael Felger about the prospect of another Stanley Cup Finals appearance from the Boston Bruins.
Between Torey Krug and David Warshofsky Felger thinks the Bruins looked way too small last night, but if they can somehow bring in another defenseman in the mold of a Dennis Seidenberg there's no reason the team can't compete for another championship.
"If they have a steady, right shot defenseman next to Zdeno Chara they should be back in the Stanley Cup Finals, I'm sorry. They still matchup better against Pittsburgh."
"I saw something last night out of that Bruins team. That was a game that 99 times out of 100 in the NHL, or especially in the NBA, that you pack it in. You're without your best player, down 2-0 against one of the best teams in the league a couple days before a big two-week break in the middle of the season, and you outplay that Blues team the final half of the game. That was impressive."
"If you're healthy and can get another defenseman to play next to Chara you should beat Pittsburgh," Felger concluded.
