Felger: Bruins Need To Save Aggressive Play Vs. Canadiens For Next Regular Season
On Monday's Felger & Massarotti Show, Michael Felger refused to get himself worked up about lopsided officiating in the Bruins-Canadiens series, instead saying it's something he expected based on history. Below is some of what Felger had to say about how the Bruins should approach the rest of the series, edited only for clarity.
You don't need to tell me about the officiating, believe me. This is Montreal.
I've just tried to accept it and be smart about it.
Don't engage them in that crap.
They are better weasels than you are.
You can be weasely, but not like that.
The weasel factor in Montreal is in the water. It is inherent; it is cultural. And no one plays the weasel better than Montreal.
Here's what the Bruins need to do:
Don't try to beat them at that game. Skate away. And next year, you're going to catch up to them, you're going to grab Brendan Gallagher and David Desharnais and Brian Gionta -- the little kids -- and you're going to give them to Zdeno Chara, Shawn Thornton, and I think they should keep Adam McQuaid just for the regular-season game against Montreal. And they're going to wield those little 5-foot-6 Canadiens like billy clubs and you are going to beat the snot out of the Montreal Canadiens in a line brawl that is so ugly that Bob Costas is going to do an essay on it, decrying the violence in hockey.
That's what I want. I want you to literally have 911 phones up in Montreal flooded with your violence next year when you play them in the regular season.
But for the next five games, skate away.
