Felger On Julien's Return: Bad Day For The Bruins
BOSTON (CBS) -- Michael Felger is having a tough time with the fact Claude Julien will be back with the Boston Bruins next season.
A dejected Felger took to the 98.5 The Sports Hub airwaves on Thursday, struggling to grasp why the Bruins would bring Julien back after missing the playoffs for the second straight season.
"That was a bad day for the team. It's the wrong decision to bring him back – I thought it was the wrong decision to bring him back last year," Felger started. "All the same problems existed, and they're bringing him back again?
"I know Claude is a good coach, but frankly, in the last two years I think he's stunk. Tell me what he did the last two years. Did young players get better? Did his system overcome the problems they had on the roster? Did he coach up the sum of the bad parts he was handed on defense, and turn D-level talent into D-plus level results? I don't think so. He was handed bad player and had bad results.
"Did they get up for big games? Were they hard to play against? Did they finish strong?" questioned Felger. "What did he do?"
Felger doesn't think it will be a disaster with Julien on the bench next year, but is concerned that it's just business as usual on Causeway street.
"Just because it's wrong doesn't mean its going to be a disaster," he said. "But they're going to be too similar to the last few years."
