Felger and Mazz: July 10
Felger and Marc Bertrand opened Wednesday's show with Jermaine Wiggins in studio. They started the show discussing the Tyler Seguin trade as well as his introductory press conference in Dallas, where Seguin said he was excited to join a young team. The guys also touched on the Celtics rebuilding process, and talked about how long they can wait for the rebuilding to last. Later, they discussed the new revelations emerging from the Aaron Hernandez murder investigation, including details from the night of the murder.
Felger, Beetle and Wiggy started the second hour talking about the Aaron Hernandez investigation. They also rolled out the weekly segment "Ten Questions with Wiggy", where he answered questions on topics such as what is the best local venue to see a band, which athlete would he most like to see naked, and Wiggy's Word on the Street. The guys then got back to discussing Tyler Seguin in relation to Cam Neely's comments from Tuesday. They wrapped up hour two with Ask Wiggy Anything.
Felger and Beetle switched gears in the 3rd hour to talk about the Red Sox coming off their 11-8 victory in Seattle, which Felger called one of their better wins of 2013, despite another poor start by Alan Webster. Moving forward, they talked about the additions they need for a successful 2nd half run. The Red Sox could have some additions in house, with hopes that Clay Buchholz could return to the rotation in top form following the All-Star break. Later, the guys shifted gears as Beetle reviewed the Paul McCartney concert at Fenway on Tuesday.
Felger and Beetle opened the final hour listening and reacting to the Kris Benson 911 call after being approached by his soon-to-be ex-wife Ana Benson, who was carrying a gun, among other weapons. The news then broke about Tuukka Rask's contract extension, an eight-year deal worth $56 million.
