Fees Cut At Logan Airport, As Traffic Increases

BOSTON (CBS) -- Even though energy and food costs are rising, Massport is cutting some fees it charges to airlines at Logan Airport.

The Massport board has voted to reduce landing and baggage handling fees for airlines, while raising terminal rents. The decision to cut most fees comes as traffic at Logan continues to increase, raising income.

Massport CEO Tom Kinton says these reductions are unusual and come as the airline industry is facing higher prices for energy. Passenger traffic at Logan has increased almost four percent so far this year compared to a year ago.
