Feelin' the Chill
After breaking a couple of record highs in Worcester and flirting with record highs in Boston, today will be an abrupt change for your body. It will be colder in terms of the actual temperature as well as the wind chill. Winds will continue to gust between 25-30mph this morning before relaxing later today. Highs will be in the lower 30s. It will be a partly cloudy day with a few flurries reaching northwest neighborhoods due to a far lake-effect fetch. Then, there is a system that will pass south of the area which could create a few flakes through midday for Cape Cod/Islands.
Saturday is Groundhog Day 2013! The most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, will bring us his yearly prediction from his burrow on Gobbler's Knob...6 more weeks of winter or an early spring. What are your predictions?!?! Here in Southern New England it will be a quiet day with increasing clouds during the afternoon. A few light snow showers may creep in during the evening hours. Highs will be around the freezing mark...32F.
Super Bowl Sunday (47) will be a cloudy one with light snow. So, as you're heading out to those Super Bowl parties, please be mindful of the potential for slick roadways. A general 1-3" of snow is expected to fall. This may need some slight fine-tuning and tweaking if the rain/snow line reaches SE Massachusetts. My best thinking right now supports a light snow event for all of us.
Early next week will be quiet until another Clipper system heads into Southern New England from late-day Tuesday into Wednesday.
Happy FRRRiday!
