FBI Offering $10K Reward For Info On Missing Weymouth Man

WEYMOUTH (CBS) -- The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information about a Weymouth man who went missing while on vacation in the Cayman Islands last year.

Norman Lee, a 47-year-old comic book artist who worked for DC and Marvel Comics, went missing while snorkeling off Grand Cayman Island on March 5, 2015.

"There are probably a lot of unanswered questions, which is why the FBI has remained active. Especially now that they have put out a reward, said Rita Lee, Norman's sister.

He and his wife became separated about 250 yards off shore. Boats, divers and a helicopter crew searched for Lee, but no sign of him turned up.

A local reporter for Grand Cayman 27 said Lee was last seen at the channel markers that separate the outer waters from the inner waters, and Royal Cayman Islands Police said the current is particularly strong in the area.

Cayman Islands officials ended the search for Lee three days later.

In a statement, the FBI said they have an open investigation into Lee's disappearance.

"We are seeking information about the circumstances of his disappearance and/or his current whereabouts," they said. "Anyone with this information is urged to contact the FBI."

The FBI said Lee was in good health at the time, and had no known medical conditions.

"Certainly that's part of the questions," said Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher Delmonte. "For somebody who was in good shape, took care of himself, that's what makes it difficult to realize this may have been how this took place."

Delmonte was a friend of Lee's and has been working to try and provide answers for his family.

"Trying to come to some kind of resolution, trying to be able to give some closure to the family if that's possible at all and recover Norman," he said,

They said he was wearing the swimming trunks pictured above when he went missing.

They added that Lee is not suspected of any crime.

"The fact that they have now put out this reward and the case is still open, it makes me question what was originally reported," said Rita Lee.
