Fauria On Toucher & Rich: Did Brady Make Deal To Get The Patriots To Keep Welker?
Tom Brady has reportedly signed a three-year contract extension with the New England Patriots. The deal will keep Brady in New England until 2017 and pay him just $27 million for the three extra years, saving the Patriots nearly $15 million towards the salary cap over the next two seasons.
Former Patriots tight end Christian Fauria spoke with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich about Tom Brady's new contract and the possibility that this was done to get the team to keep Wes Welker.

This is the second time that Brady has taken a team friendly deal. Is this a move by a guy that wants his team to clear up cap space and wants to win for the rest of his career?
"It sure does feel that way, but whenever something looks to good to be true it usually is. I don't know there's something - I get it he's taking the hometown discount that's what it looks like on paper, but there's got to be something more there."
"This is a significant pay cut that he's taking, that he's allowing himself to take. I just feel like there's got to be something else there at some point in his life, whether it's a handshake deal with Kraft or something between his agent. I mean to leave that much money on the table it just doesn't seem right to me."
Is it possible that Brady only took this deal with the understanding that the team will get a deal done with free agent wide receiver Wes Welker?
"I think that's highly likely that that was part of the game plan. Players usually never have a say who comes back."
Could this Brady deal come back and bite the team toward the end of this deal where people think the team overpaid for Brady?
