Fare Evader Caught With Loaded Gun At MBTA Station
BOSTON (CBS) - A 20-year-old Chelsea man who jumped a T turnstile to avoid the fare is now in a lot of trouble.
On Sunday, MBTA police were on patrol for fare evaders at the Andrew Station in South Boston, when they say Hamilton Rodriguez leaped over a broken gate.
They say they tried to ask him for identification, and that's when he began acting suspicious, and took off.
WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports
Surveillance video shows the officers running after and tackling Rodriguez. They say he was carrying a loaded gun with ammunition.
Rodriguez has an open case out of Chelsea where he's charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and cocaine. Today a judge revoked bail in that case, and set bail at 20,000 cash in the Boston gun case.
Rodriguez faces a mandatory year behind bars if he's convicted of the gun charge.
