Fantasy Football Advice For NFL Week 15 From Dave Richard: Who To Add, Who To Avoid
BOSTON (CBS) -- Daily fantasy sports are obviously quite the rage in America these days, but this is the time of year when the patience of running a successful season-long fantasy campaign can finally pay off.
With the playoffs in full swing in those season-long fantasy leagues, and with injuries piling up around the league, championships may be won or lost on the waiver wire this year.
Fortunately, fantasy football expert Dave Richard has plenty of advice that he's willing to share, and he did so on Toucher & Rich on Thursday.
"You know that there's injuries all over the place at running back," Richard said, "and I think it's going to lead to some interesting choices. And I think the top name, and this is a guy who's going to be owned in a ton of daily leagues but I think he's going to be worth it, in Denard Robinson. The former Michigan Wolverine, for the Jacksonville Jaguars, great opportunity against Atlanta -- that running defense is falling apart. I like him as a top-10 running back this week, I think he's going to have a great game."
Richard recommended Tim Hightower in season-long leagues, but thinks he won't be worth it in daily leagues, especially with Brandon Bolden likely costing less.
"I think Bolden's finally going to get that opportunity to be a good role player in the offense," Richard said. "Fred Jackson is another guy that I would take a long look at, especially in leagues where it's full-point PPR. He's going to work int he goal line and he's going to work in the two-minute drill. ... It wouldn't surprise me if Fred Jackson had some good numbers. ... Bryce Brown's OK, but I think Fred Jackson might be the better sleeper of the two for daily."
As to which players should be avoided this week, Richard had some suggestions. Odell Beckham Jr., even with a matchup on tap with Josh Norman, is not one of them.
"I think you're going to see Odell Beckham have a fine game ... but I don't know if that's good for Eli Manning," Richard said. "I don't know how much I feel confident in [Eli]. Ryan Fitzpatrick is another quarterback. He's been lighting up defenses ... but that Dallas secondary has played well. So Fitzpatrick is someone I'm a little worried about.
"I'm worried about these Chiefs running backs. You've got Charcandrick West, you've got Spencer Ware, there's a chance Ware misses the game, but they're playing at Baltimore, and the one area where the Ravens are still good this year is their run defense," Richard added. "And Frank Gore makes me nervous, too. His offensive line stinks, the matchup's tough. I think you're going to see Gore have a very tough time with Charlie Whitehurst as the Indianapolis Colts quarterback."
