Family Of Slain Brigham and Women's Surgeon Welcomes Baby Girl

BOSTON (CBS) -- The wife of slain Brigham and Women's Hospital cardiac surgeon Dr. Michael J. Davidson has given birth to the couple's fourth child.

Davidson, 44, died on Jan. 20 after being shot twice in an exam room at the hospital by a gunman who later shot and killed himself.

His wife, Dr. Terri Halperin gave birth to their daughter, Mikaela Jane Davidson, on Saturday, April 4, the hospital announced Monday. She shares her father's initials -- MJD.

The couple also have two daughters, 10-year-old Kate, and 8-year-old Liv, and a son 2-year-old Graham.

"Michael was very much looking forward to the birth of this beautiful baby girl," Halperin said in a public statement.

"At a time when my children and I are completely heartbroken over the loss of Michael, we are finding joy in Mikaela's arrival," she said.
