Family Of Lynn Crash Victim Wins $2M Judgement Under Social Host Law
SALEM (CBS) --- A judge has awarded a $2 million judgement to a Salem family after their daughter was killed in a drunk driving crash after a Lynn house party.
In 2010, Julia Gauthier, then 19, was at a birthday party for Craig Snow, 23, with her boyfriend Christopher Maxson, 22.

Maxson, of Marblehead, was driving Gauthier home that night when he ran stop signs and flipped the SUV they were driving in. Gauthier was killed in the crash. Maxson received a 3-to-4-year prison term after pleading guilty to motor vehicle homicide while driving drunk.
The Gauthier family settled a civil suit against Maxson's family but those terms were never made public.
Snow was charged under the social host liability law and given a suspended sentence and probation.
The Gauthier family filed suit against Snow, alleging wrongful death. A judge ruled Snow should pay $2 million in damages to Gauthier's parents, plus $251,180 in interest.
It's unclear however, if the family will ever see that money because Snow has defaulted on the suit.
