Fall River official arrested in prostitution sting
Fall River City Councilor Brian Bigelow has been arrested with 23 others in a prostitution sting.
Police confirmed Sunday that Bigelow was charged with offering to engage in sex for a fee after he allegedly approached a female police officer working undercover as a prostitute. The police sting was conducted Friday night and early Saturday.
Reached at home by The Herald News, Bigelow would not discuss his arrest. The 49-year-old official says he will not resign.
He did not immediately return a call seeking comment Sunday.
The Herald News says police acted after Mayor Will Flanagan received numerous complaints about prostitution. Arraignments are set for Monday in District Court.
