Fall Feel For Football Sunday, But Summer Not Over Yet!
Middle level deck of clouds hovers over NH and eastern MA this morning associated with an upper level trough which is pushing through. This is helping to spin up an area of low pressure off the mid-Atlantic which will intensify as it tracks up into the Canadian Maritimes by Tuesday. Clouds are breaking off of this low, even a few scattered showers will be found towards the Vineyard and Nantucket. High pressure firmly in place over Maine is supplying plenty of dry air into the low levels with light NE winds. I am expecting the morning clouds to begin to break and give way to increasing afternoon sunshine. Temps are starting off warmer thanks to the increased cloud cover overnight. Highs will be climbing into the mid 60's inland and remain in the lwr 60's at the coast with the onshore winds. Winds will pick up this afternoon on the Cape & is due to the developing gradient between the High to our north and low to our south. The clearing trend continues tonight with clear cool calm conditions. A brighter Monday with sunshine an few clouds and temps still in the 60's. Higher surf will develop for eastern facing beaches with the low far off the coast as a 3-6 foot swell will develop by Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the leading edge of warmer air will be pushing towards the northeast. Clouds will spread eastward as well as a weakening band of showers. Clouds and showers should keep it cooler in the 60's to near 70. Behind this front winds will be back to the warm summer direction from the SW and temps will quickly be on the rise Wednesday in the mid-upper 70's with humidity increasing by Thursday ahead of the next cold front Thursday. This front should take much of the day to push through so highs in the upper 70's are likely with late day showers or storms into Thursday Night with drier & slightly cooler weather to follow heading into next weekend. At this point, next weekend does not look as cool as this weekend...infact temps should be in the 70's with a warming trend by Sunday. So summer still has a bit more warmth to give before it is all through, but I am pretty confident our days in the 80's over with a trough in place across the northeast which will last the rest of the month.
