Expert: Spader Wrote Gruesome 'Bedtime Stories'
NASHUA, N.H. (CBS/AP) -- An expert witness is testifying that a teenager charged with murder in a New Hampshire home invasion last year wrote detailed summaries of the attacks.
Document analyst Alan Robillard of Vineyard Haven, said 18-year-old Steven Spader wrote the letters Spader termed "bedtime stories" to another inmate.
Song lyrics, also said to be in Spader's handwriting, include the lines: "We went up in the room, Mommy is it you?, Mommy isn't here, I slit her throat from ear to ear."
Prosecutors say Spader wielded a machete in the attacks that killed Kimberly Cates and maimed her 11-year-old daughter, Jaimie.
Robillard ruled out two other inmates who had contact with the writings.
Jurors have heard from more than 40 witnesses in the nine-day trial.

Earlier Thursday, a friend of Spader's and co-defendant Christopher Gribble testified that he went to the police with the details they gave him.
Kyle Fenton of Amherst said Spader and Gribble stood in his driveway hours after the pre-dawn attacks and conveyed what they had done in graphic detail.
Fenton said Gribble did most of the talking and that it seemed like he was on a "power trip."
