Ex-Red Sox Catcher Kevin Cash Retires
BOSTON (CBS) - Former Red Sox catcher Kevin Cash has decided to end his playing career, according to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo.
The 34-year-old Cash will remain in baseball, taking a job as a major league advance scout with the Blue Jays.
Cash had two stints with the Red Sox: in 2008 as Tim Wakefield's personal catcher, and again in 2010 when the team desperately needed some catching help.
He also played for the Blue Jays, Rays, Yankees and Astros.
Cash hit .183 with 12 home runs and 58 RBI in his major league career.
