Everett Man Charged In Stabbing Death Of Newbury Street Hair Stylist
BOSTON (CBS) - An Everett man was ordered held without bail Wednesday, charged with the murder of a hair stylist last month.
Chris Powell, 39, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court and pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.
Prosecutor Edmond Zabin said Powell stabbed 44-year-old Corey Thompson during a fight under an Interstate 93 overpass near Albany and Traveler streets on February 25.
Thompson was a stylist at Diego, a Newbury Street salon. His former co-workers told WBZ-TV he was popular with customers and will be missed. He lived in the South End.
His murder remained a mystery for a month until Powell was arrested Monday. Investigators said he admitted stabbing Thompson.
There's no word yet what led to the fight.
