High-Speed Police Chase Ends In Everett Crash, OUI Arrest
EVERETT (CBS) -- One man is under arrest after police say he led them on a chase from Charlestown to Everett that ended in a crash into three parked cars.
State Police said the chase began when they stopped William Seaburg, 31 of Somerville, in his Lexus on Rutherford Avenue in Charlestown Monday night after they determined he had a warrant out for assault--but he took off at a high speed.
The trooper had to pull off due to safety reasons, as the speeds were just that high.
Other troopers later found Seaburg's car crashed on Bow Street in Everett, having hit three parked cars that belonged to a single family.
According to court documents, troopers in the Everett area saw Seaburg walking with bloody hands and all the telltale signs of an airbag deployment on his face.
Police said he denied a crash, but allegedly smelled of alcohol. He was taken into custody.
WBZ-TV's Nicole Jacobs spoke with Juan Torres, who said he owned all three of the damaged vehicles.
He said he heard the crash from his window, then came outside and saw all of the damage to his, his wife's, and his son's cars. He believes all were totaled.
Jimmy McCann, who lives nearby, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Ben Parker that it was quite an impact.
"The impact just rolled the car over, it came into another car, and into his son's car," he said. "It was very bad, it was a mess. It was chaos."
In addition to the assault and battery arrest warrant, Seaburg faces charges of OUI liquor, violation of an abuse prevention order, speeding, failure to stop for a police officer, operating with a suspended/revoked license, and several other motor vehicle charges.
He was taken to the State Police Tunnels barracks and held without bail, and is due to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court Tuesday.
