Before Monday, Massachusetts State Police told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 that there was a Jan. 18 sighting of the goat on the side of Interstate 495 near the Westford-Chelmsford line.

On Dec. 29, a man said he followed the goat through the streets of Lowell for three-and-a-half hours.

The man and another passerby managed to corner the goat in a fenced-off-area on Iowa Street before animal control arrived, but the goat got ran away.

The goat, described as weighing about 200 pounds and has a full set of horns, initially escaped from a Tewksbury farm.
