Eight Revolution Players On MLS All-Star Ballot
BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England Revolution are the hottest team in soccer, and could have a handful of representatives in August's MLS All-Star Game.
Eight members of the Revolution are among those on the fan ballot for the 2014 MLS All-Star game, which the league revealed on Wednesday.
The following players from New England are on the ballot:
Forward Teal Bunbury: Has scored two goals and tallied three assists in his last five games. His three assists in just 12 games has already matched his previous single-season best in Kansas City.
Midfielder Diego Fagundez: The 19-year-old is one of the league's most exciting players, scoring four goals and adding three assists so far this season.
Defenseman Andrew Farrell: The first-overall pick in the 2013 MLS Draft is one of the team's leading defenders, with the Revs posting an 0.91 goals against average with him on the field this year.
Defenseman Jose Goncalves: The reigning MLS defender of the year leads the league with 28 shields.
Forward Patrick Mullins: Is only the second rookie in league history to score goals in four straight games.
Midfielder Lee Nguyen: Leads the team in scoring with five goals, including two game-winners.
Goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth: His 1.00 goals against average and four shutouts this season are tied for second in MLS.
Defenseman A.J. Soares: Has played every minutes of every game so far.
Fans can vote their favorite Revs players onto the MLS All-Star team online up until July 11 and via Twitter between July 2-6.
A total of 11 players – one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards – with the highest combined votes will be named to the team, which will square off against German titan Bayern Munich on August 6 at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon. Portland head coach Caleb Porter will coach the MLS All-Stars and will choose the game day roster and the starting lineup in late July.
The Revolution are currently riding a seven-game unbeaten streak following Saturday's 2-1 win over the D.C. United.
