Edwin Alemany Indicted In Amy Lord Murder, Attacks On 3 Other Women In Boston
BOSTON (CBS) - A Suffolk County grand jury returned an indictment Friday against the man accused of killing Amy Lord of South Boston last summer.
Edwin Alemany, 29, is now charged with first degree murder, kidnapping, armed carjacking, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of armed robbery while being masked, stealing by confining, arson of a motor vehicle and assault-related offenses in Lord's death July 23.

Investigators said Alemany abducted Lord, 24, as she left her apartment, beat her and then forced her to withdraw money from four ATMs in South Boston and Dorchester before killing her in the Stony Brook Reservation in Hyde Park and dumping her body there. He then drove Lord's Jeep back to South Boston and set it on fire, according to police.
Alemany was also indicted in three attacks on other young women in Boston in September 2012 and July 2013. The last of those three attacks came a day after Lord's murder. The September 2012 incident led to the demotion of a Boston police detective and the reprimand of a lieutenant and two sergeants.
"These indictments join separate cases arising out of attacks on Mission Hill, South Boston and West Roxbury into one consolidated prosecution, " Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley told reporters at a news conference Friday afternon.
Alemany will be arraigned next month on these new charges in Suffolk Superior Court.
He is being held at Bridgewater State Hospital after he allegedly tried to kill himself in August.
Alemany pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in West Roxbury District Court last August after he was arrested for Lord's murder. Alemany is being held on $3 million bail in that case.
The alleged victim in the 2012 assault by Alemany released a statement Friday afternoon.
"Anna Evangelista was extremely relieved to hear that Edward Alemany was indicted today, not only in her case, but in the other assaults and in the murder of Amy Lord. She has no further comment because she wants to let the judicial process take its course and she looks forward to participating in that process."
