Eddie Olczyk On Gresh & Zo: Seguin's Not An NHL Center
Gresh and Zo were joined by Ed Olczyk to talk some Bruins hockey and NHL trade deadline chatter.
The Bruins made a move on Tuesday and acquired Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars for Lane MacDermid, 2012 fifth-round pick Cody Payne and a conditional draft pick. Olczyk played with Jagr, but at 41-years-old what kind of player are the Bruins getting?
"He's still a dangerous player offensivly, there's no doubt about it and the one thing that I love about the acquisition for the Bruins is when Jagr is on the ice you have to account for him," Olczyk said.
Jagr is already tied with Brad Marchand for the team lead in goals scored with 14 and has been averaging 18:17 of ice time, which would put him behind only Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
Speaking of Patrice Bergeron, the center left Tuesday night's game against the Senators in the second period after he appeared to get hit in the head by Colin Greening as the two raced for the puck. If Bergeron is out for an extended period of time would Olczyk roll the dice and plug a guy like Tyler Seguin in at center?
"I don't believe Tyler Seguin is a center in the National Hockey League, I think that he will be a star in this league because he's a winger and he's going to be allowed to go. I would like to see him get a little bit more ice time because I think he is that type of a player."
Olczyk also believes the Bruins are going through a lack of focus right now but for the most part have all the tools it takes to make a run at the Cup.
Plus, Eddy says Jaromir Jagr will slide in at right wing but not necessarily on the first line.
