At an event at Emmanuel College, Davis declined to talk about the drunk driving arrest of his 22-year-old son Phillip in Plymouth, New Hampshire last Friday.
"He's doing fine," Davis said. "I want to thank everybody. I've got a lot of notes and calls over the last few days and I want to thank everybody that's called to express concern."
The Suffolk District Attorney's office is also investigating another incident involving Davis's son earlier this month in which a Boston police officer gave Phillip Davis and his girlfriend a ride home from the TD Garden on suspicion that Davis may have been impaired.
"Because of the ongoing investigation that's occurring, it's inappropriate for me to comment further than that, so I appreciate people's concern. We'll get through this. Phillip's a good kid and I'm sure he'll bounce back from this," Commissioner Davis said.
The commissioner issued a statement earlier this week saying his son has decided to seek treatment.
