Fall Feel Returns Again...A Sign of Things To Come?
A cold front has pushed off the coast with drier air already on the move behind it. Conditions will continue to improve through Saturday right through the weekend. Lingering clouds this morning across Eastern MA will give way to increasing afternoon sunshine. Highs will be seasonal with temperatures reaching 70-75 with a sun and cloud mix for the afternoon.
Clear skies tonight with building high pressure and light NW winds will allow excellent radiational cooling, resulting in low temperatures dropping off the table into the middle 40's in the suburbs to the middle 50's in the city. Sunday sunshine will rule the day with only a few isolated clouds as strong high pressure keeps things quiet, with fall-like temperatures struggling to reach 70 degrees admist a light northwest flow.
Monday, be prepared for quite the chilly start with lows dropping even lower than tonight with upper 30's possible in the cooler northwest zones, with lows near 50 closest the city. Expect yet another day characterized by plenty of sunshine with light southerly flow as the high pressure center responsible for this great stretch of weather shifts southeast of the region.
As this high pressure system shifts south of the region, a strong upper-level low will tap into abundant moisture in the southeastern U.S. This will throw more clouds our way overnight Monday into Tuesday, with the possiblity for heavy showers/embedded thunder Tuesday late afternoon through the first part of Wednesday. As this is happening, a tight pressure gradient will set up as New England will be wedged between a high pressure center to the east and a developing surface low pressure center to the west. As a result, in addition to abundant cloud cover Tuesday afternoon expect winds to become quite gusty from the south. These gusty winds will be enhanced by any heavy downpours late Tuesday into the first part of Wednesday, which may negatively impact the Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning commutes. Some wind damage may be possible in downpours.
As Wednesday afternoon progresses the last of the showers should exit the region, allowing for slow clearing to take place, which will hold temperatures primarily to the lower 70's. Behind this disturbance another period of nice weather is likely Thursday and Friday with more fall-like weather consisting of low humidity, lots of sunshine and light northwesterly winds. Overall it will be a pleasant stretch of weather the next couple of days, with some unsettled conditions Tuesday into Wednesday before a resturn to dry and comfortable weather for the end of the workweek.
