Nurse Charged In Deadly Duxbury Hit And Run

DUXBURY (CBS) – A registered nurse who prosecutors say was behind the wheel in a hit and run crash that killed a Duxbury mother was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail during her arraignment on Wednesday.

Andrea Gordon, 46, was hit while jogging on Washington Street Sunday night. Gordon was rushed to South Shore Hospital in critical condition, but died on Tuesday.

Detectives spent two days searching for the driver in the crash. On Tuesday afternoon, 39-year-old Christina Blackmore was arrested in the lobby of the Duxbury Police Department after coming to the station for another purpose.

Blackmore was arraigned Wednesday in Plymouth District Court. She is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, negligent operation, failure to stay in marked lanes and speeding.

Prosecutors said the registered nurse hit Gordon and did not stop to provide medical assistance.

Police say she lied to them when confronted about the front end damage to her truck. "She indicated that she had collided with the boat trailer," prosecutor Russ Eonas said.

Investigators say it's still a mystery why Blackmore allegedly fled. So far, there's no evidence of drinking or distracted driving.

"It's still an ongoing investigation, still very active," said Duxbury Police Dep. Chief Steve McDonald. "We're still searching all, you know, multiple avenues to find any more evidence related to this incident."

Blackmore was ordered not to drive if she makes bail. Her attorney Jack Atwood pleaded for low bail. "I would suggest in this evidence nothing to indicate that she's going to flee, she's answered these charges," Atwood said.

She is next scheduled to appear in court next month.
