Duckling Day Parade To Step Off From Boston Common

BOSTON (CBS) -- It's not just Mother's Day, it's Duckling Day in Boston.

The annual event has been taking place for more than 30 years. The day celebrates the children's classic book Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey.

Each year, more than  1,000 people meet up and parade through Boston's most iconic parks, dressed like characters from the story. Led by the Harvard Marching Band, the parade will begin on the Boston Common at the Parkman Bandstand and end in the Public Garden near the famous Make Way for Ducklings sculptures.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., Mayor Marty Walsh will greet families at 11:45 a.m. The parade steps off at noon.
