Woman Struck By Duck Boat In Back Bay
BOSTON (CBS) -- A woman was hit by a duck boat at the corner of Clarendon and Newbury Streets shortly before noon Sunday morning.
The woman was taken to Tufts Medical Center with head trauma, but was conscious and is expected to survive.
"We are grateful to learn from police that no one was seriously injured in today's incident," Boston Duck Tours, the company that operates the vehicles, said in a statement Sunday afternoon.
They said they had learned that a witness to the crash said the vehicle had the right of way, and that the woman had crossed against the signal.
This is the second accident involving a duck boat in three months. In April, 28-year-old Allison Warmuth was struck and killed by a duck boat while riding on a moped near the Public Garden.
Just this week, Warmuth's parents were in Boston to address lawmakers who are considering adding regulations for the sightseeing vehicles.
"Anybody that is near them is at risk because the driver may not see them, just like the driver did not see my daughter," Anna Warmuth, Allison's mother, said.
