Dry But Chilly...

We are heading into another weekend and all in all it's going to be a good one...at least it will be dry and sun-filled both weekend days.  Ok, now that we covered that, let's talk about what everybody will remember this weekend for...the cold mornings!  A freeze warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for early Saturday and will likely be needed again early Sunday and Monday mornings too.  Temps will slip into the lower 30s if not upper 20s for most of the suburbs.  Now most of the annual vegetation will be fine even in these cold temps, such plants are used to the cold.  In fact, some annuals actually thrive in the cold conditions...like lettuces and peas.  However, all Summer annuals are vulnerable and you will need to either cover them up with a sheet or bring them inside if they are in pots...good luck!

Taking a backseat to the cold will be another extended dry stretch...high pressure will be near through Tuesday keeping moisture and even clouds away.  So even though the drought and brushfire threat is on the back burner it is still an issue.  Our next chance for rain is Tuesday evening as a warmfront approaches...doesn't look like anything significant though.  Warmer air will flow in behind it beginning next Wednesday and temps should climb through the 70s and there is a chance we could see 80 later next week.

Have a great weekend.
