Driver Wanted In NH Arrested On I-95 After High-Speed Chase
AMESBURY (CBS) - A man wanted for a crime in New Hampshire was arrested Thursday after a lengthy high-speed chase through two states ended on I-95 in Amesbury.
Thirty-year-old Keith Babcock was arrested after a short foot pursuit along the side of I-95 southbound near Route 110. Babcock was wanted on a warrant out of New Hampshire for breaking and entering.
According to authorities, police pursued Babcock, who was driving a green Ford Explorer, through I-495, Route 110 and back onto I-495 at around 10:35 a.m. Babcock then allegedly drove over the state line into New Hampshire.
Babcock then reentered Massachusetts near Merrimac on I-95, and drove through Route 286 and a local back road before jumping back on the highway at I-495 southbound. Shortly thereafter, Babcock ran over stop sticks set up by Amesbury police.
Babcock eventually stopped his car and tried to run from the scene on foot before he was finally captured.
At some points during the chase, which reached speeds as high as 90 miles per hour, police said Babcock drove his car at cruisers attempting to stop him.
Babcock faces several charges, including fugitive from justice, failure to stop for police, and resisting arrest.
He was expected to be arraigned later on Thursday.
