Police Capt. Mark Chase says there no sign of speeding or other driver-related issues; it seems to be a tragic accident.
The street was closed to traffic due to downed power lines and trees. The storm caused up to 20,000 power outages; that number was down to about 8,500 on Monday morning. Trees and power lines were damaged in Claremont and Newport.
