Driver Arrested In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Somerset
SOMERSET (CBS/AP) — A Somerset man has been charged in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 35-year-old woman.
Adam Cooper is accused of hitting Kerri Harrison and her husband with his sport utility vehicle as they walked along Lepes Road Tuesday night.
Somerset police said Harrison was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Her husband was injured, but is recovering.
The 34-year-old Cooper turned himself in to Somerset police about an hour after the crash.
He was arraigned Wednesday on charges of leaving the scene of an accident causing death. He was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail.
Police said they found a detached motor vehicle license plate at the scene of the accident that led them to Cooper's home.
Cooper's lawyer did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.
