Driver Arrested For Going Wrong Way On Mass. Pike
PALMER (AP) — Another motorist has been arrested for allegedly driving the wrong way on the Massachusetts Turnpike in the western part of the state just days after a wrong-way driver caused an accident that killed two.
State police say 35-year-old Patrick Carroll of West Brookfield was spotted driving east in the westbound lanes of the highway in Palmer at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
A witness told police Carroll was actually driving in the right direction, but then did a U-turn.
Police say he may have driven four miles before exiting.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on an operating under the influence of alcohol charge.
An 84-year-old Connecticut man drove the wrong way on the highway last Friday in Ludlow. He, as well as the driver of vehicle he struck, died.
