Drew Bledsoe on Gresh & Zo: Bigger Game For Patriots Or Texans?
BOSTON (CBS) - Former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh and Zo for his weekly football talk, breaking down the Patriots upcoming Monday Night showdown against the Houston Texans.
Bledsoe believes this is a bigger game for New England because they are fighting for a first-round bye in the playoffs.
"The Texans have all but clinched everything they want in terms of going into the postseason. That bye is a really big deal, if you get that week of rest and get guys healthy," said Bledsoe. "It's very likely, in my mind, these teams see each other again before this season is over."
Sunday's game could turn into an offensive effort, with both defense's prone to giving up big plays. We all know Tom Brady can win a shootout, but what about Texans quarterback Matt Schaub?
"I think he has the weapons to do it, the ability to do it," Bledsoe said of the Texans QB. "I think he can make a game out of it that way. He may not be Tom, but he is a very good quarterback with a ton of weapons around him. If it turns into that kind of game, which is likely, I think he can get that done. This is going to be a fun game to watch."
Elsewhere in the AFC, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos won their eighth straight Thursday night with a 26-13 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Manning has 30 touchdowns and over 3,800 yards on the season, but none of Denver or Manning's success surprises Bledsoe.
"I'm not (suprised with Manning's success). I say that with some perspective of how motivating it is to leave your original organization and start over," said Bledsoe. "We all know Peyton is highly motivated anyways and one of the great players of all-time. I expected him to play at a pretty high level this year, and I'm not surprised to see what the Broncos are doing."
