Dreary & Damp 4 Days!

With an atmospheric block unfolding, a traffic jam of weather systems will produce a prolonged spell of dismal conditions for at least 5 days. It will not be raining constantly but it will be continuously damp through next Thursday. Expect rain of varying intensity. Some of the passing showers will be downpours while at other times, it will just be misty. As the air becomes more humid, fog may become an issue especailly along the coast. The steadiest and most widespread rain through tomorrow will occur across northern New England where a weak frontal boundary will provide an axis of greater convergence. A Flood Watch is posted for northern VT, NH and western ME due to the anticipation of 2-3 inches of rain. Elsewhere, it will be more showery and there could be a few thunderstorms triggered tomorrow afternoon. Meantime, another cold front across southern Canada will be settling southward in the next 24-48 hours. It should merge with the existing boundary over the northern mountains and track southward into southern New England bylater Monday morning. With a zone of high pressure building into eastern Canada, northeasterly winds will likely perk up to 15-25 mph on Monday. This will make it raw with highs only in the 50s as additional pockets of rain pass through. After that, it is possible that the corridor of heaviest rain will set up in NY, PA and the Mid-Atlantic States on Tuesday and Wednesday. If this does happen, we would still be vulnerable to occasional drizzle and spotty lighter showers with temperatures rising from the upper 50s on Tuesday into the lower 60s on Wednesday. Eventually, the ribbon of heavier rain will return to this region on Thursday then weaken into a more convective setup where splashes of sunshine would lead to showers and thunderstorms and warmer weather next Friday into Saturday. Don't despair, nicer weather will hopefully return the following week.

Joe Joyce will share his thoughts tomorrow morning and I shall return later in the day.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and GO BRUINS!!!
