Draft List: Patriots Best & Worst Of 2015 NFL Draft
BOSTON (CBS) – The NFL Draft is in the books, but that doesn't mean The Adam Jones Show's Draft List is coming to an end.
Starting Monday night, Jones and Rich Keefe will break down each AFC East team and how they did in this year's draft.
First up: The New England Patriots.
Best Pick
Adam Jones: Malcom Brown, DL, Texas
"Don't overthink it, and as we say often, 'Don't think, just throw.' Malcom Brown at 32 is great value to me," said Jones. "He seems like he fits a series of needs and may be able to help in the pass rush. He may be able to help replace Vince Wilfork, and certainly given Bill Belichick's track record with drafting defensive lineman, you give him the benefit of the doubt. That's easily their best pick."
Rich Keefe: Tre' Jackson, OL, Florida State
"I like Brown too, but to give you a different one I'll give you Tre' Jackson," said Keefe. "He strikes me as a guy who can probably step in and start. You saw his Florida State teammate Bryan Stork have a huge impact last season; I don't think he's as good as Stork but I do think he has the ability to play a lot of games and impact this team. That's pretty good for a Day 3 pick."
Worst Pick
Jordan Richards, S, Stanford
Jones: "[Richards is] a safety that I don't think many had projected on Day 2. He was a mid-t0-late Day 3 pick. He's very intelligent and will line up in the right spot, but this one feels like Tavon Wilson and Duron Harmon all over again. It doesn't seem like [Belichick] learned from the error of his ways."
Keefe: "If you want to go way off your board in the fifth, sixth or even seventh round, at that point you're just taking guys you want. This made no sense to me. You could have gotten him with any number of your picks later on, that night or the next day. That's definitely their worst pick."
Post-Draft Questions
Jones: "To me, it goes right back to the secondary. I don't understand how you go into this draft – and you didn't have to take a corner in Round 1 – but how do you not address corner at any point in this draft?"
Keefe: "My one question after the draft, between the last two drafts they walked away with 20 players. Last year was the greatest WR draft of all time, this year seems to be almost as deep as last year. They have to go out and prove it; last year's class did. You could be talking about two of the best drafts for wide receivers, consecutively, and they took one – [Gallon in the seventh round]."
"Last year, if you threw a rock at anyone in the first four or five rounds, you would have walked away with someone who could stick."
