Downtown Boston High-Rise Office Building Evacuated

BOSTON (CBS) – About 2,500 people were evacuated from a downtown Boston office building Monday because of a water main break.

The break was located on the second floor of 60 State Street. A condenser line broke, causing water to flow to the basement, where it leaked into the electrical circuits.

As a result, the fire department had to evacuate the entire 38-story building for the day so they could cut the power and deal with the problem.

The evacuation was calm and orderly, but several workers were waiting to get back inside to get their belongings so they could go home.
