Dover Gold Medalist's Advice For Olympians: 'Pretend It's Just Another Competition'

BOSTON (CBS) - Olympic gold medal winner Karen Stives, talks about that feeling on the podium and says "It's hard to explain."

The Dover resident competed in the 1984 games in Los Angeles, and took home several medals including gold in the Three-Day Team Equestrian.

Stives was also on the 1980 U.S. team that boycotted the Moscow games, which she says was a big letdown.

She talked to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 about essentially kicking off the games and how that prevented her from experiencing the Olympic Village.

Stives said the best advice she could give an Olympian this week, is "pretend it's just another competition."
