Man Killed, Woman Injured In 'Clearly Targeted' Dorchester Shooting

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — A man was killed and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries in an overnight shooting in Dorchester.

The 37-year-old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the Dudley Terrace shooting. The female victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police haven't released their names.

Police do not believe the shooting was random.

"They were clearly targeted. The individual fired multiple shots at two people up close and we are going to look at cameras and catch the guy who did this," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said.

Residents are on edge following the deadly shooting.

"I don't feel safe. What happened last night, I mean I have a 15-year-old kid. It's very disappointing," one neighbor said.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Boston police.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said the city needs witnesses to come forward to help solve these crimes.

"It's disheartening. There's so many great things happening. We just left a great event here and last night we had a shooting so it's just, our work is not done," Mayor Walsh said while speaking at a My Brother's Keeper event in Dudley Square.
