Dorchester Man Indicted In Shooting Of Boston Police Officer
BOSTON (CBS) -- A Dorchester man who allegedly shot a Boston Police officer in early January was indicted Friday on a dozen charges by a grand jury.

Grant Headley, 27, has been charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery by discharging a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm as a second or subsequent offense, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a large-capacity weapon and feeding device, unlawful possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, unlawful distribution of a Class B substance as a second or subsequent offense, unlawful possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and being a Level II armed career criminal, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
Headley is accused of shooting Officer Kurt Stokinger during a traffic stop on Mt. Bowdoin Terrace on Jan. 5. A drug control unit had been looking for Headley for allegedly selling crack cocaine in violation of his probation following a five-year state prison sentence on a 2009 gun and drug conviction, investigators say.
Officials say got out of the car, fired and hit the 37-year-old policeman before running from the scene. Headley was later apprehended by multiple officers in the area.
The wounded offer was rushed to Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. He was released from the hospital on Jan. 10.
Following his Jan. 11 arraignment in Dorchester Municipal Court, Headley was held on $1.5 million cash bail. He will also be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court, but a date has yet to be scheduled.
