Dorchester Man Arrested For Weekend Attacks On Women
BOSTON (CBS) - A man was charged Monday in two attacks on women over the weekend in Dorchester, as police announced they are investigating a third incident.
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis announced the arrest of 31-year-old Walter Mains of Dorchester for the reported assaults on Harbor View Street and the Savin Hill area early Sunday morning.
"I can tell you he's a very dangerous person. He's had a prior history of similar types of assaults," said Commissioner Davis.
In the first incident just before 2 a.m. Sunday, a woman reported being accosted by a man near the Savin Hill T stop, but he ended up escaping.
WBZ-TV's Jim Smith reports.
Just 30 minutes later, a different woman reported being raped near the station. Mains has not been charged in that rape.
Then at 3 a.m. near the corner of Harbor View Street and Dorchester Avenue, a woman reported an indecent assault and attempted rape.
