2 Dead In Shooting, Car Crash In Dorchester
DORCHESTER (CBS) – Two people are dead after a shooting and car crash in Dorchester overnight, Boston Police said.
Officers were called to Elder and Eastman Streets around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired.
There, they found a car crashed with two people inside.
The car caught on fire after the crash. Police determined the two men inside had been shot, and crashed the car.
There was a black, charred mark on the side of Elder Street Thursday morning where the car had burned.
Romero Dos Santos, who lives around the corner, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens that his 27-year-old son Amilton was one of the victims. The other, Dos Santos said, was Amilton's friend.
He said he was sleeping last night, when he was awoken by neighbors with the news.
"The people down the street come and knocked on my door, and said Amilton got shot," he said. "Amilton and his friend I think tried to run away because they got shot, and they had a car accident."
Relatives in shock were gathered at the scene Thursday morning.
"I loved my son," said Dos Santos through tears. "I lost my wife too. Now I'm all by myself."
Rosmund Johnfinn owns the Honda CRV hit by Dos Santos's car and she too was surprised by the incident.
"I heard gun shots and my daughter told me I should go outside. O my God, what happened, I was suprised," Johnfinn said.
Dos Santos said his son left behind a 2-year-old child.
No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
