Warren: Trump's Mad That He's 'Losing To A Girl'
BOSTON (CBS) – United States Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Donald Trump is upset to be "losing to a girl" after the Republican presidential nominee's controversial remarks about the Second Amendment.
On Tuesday, Trump said during a rally there is nothing voters can do to stop Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's support for anti-gun Supreme Court justices.
He then added a remark that opponents have said advocated violence against Clinton.
"Although Second Amendment people, maybe there is – I don't know. But I'll tell you what: that will be a horrible day," Trump told the crowd.
Warren, the senator from Massachusetts, took to Twitter following Trump's remarks, saying he is upset to be "losing to a girl."
"Your reckless comments sound like a two-bit dictator, @realDonaldTrump. Not a man who wants to lead the greatest democracy on the planet," Warren continued.
Trump claimed after making the comments that he was referring to gun advocates' ability to keep Clinton out of the White House.
"It's called the power of unification – 2nd Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power," said Trump session communications advisor Jason Miller in a statement. "And this year, they will be voting in record numbers, and it won't be for Hillary Clinton, it will be for Donald Trump."
Warren and Trump have traded verbal barbs several times in recent months.
Trump regularly refers to Warren as "Pocahontas" in reference to what he described as Warren's "phony Native American heritage."
Warren, meanwhile, has called Trump a "thin-skinned, racist bully" and "fraudster-in-chief."
