Donald Trump Protester Spit At Officer, Police Say
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) -- A protester at a Donald Trump presidential campaign rally in New Hampshire is facing charges after authorities say he punched a security officer and then spit at police.
Tyler McMullen, 23, of Derry, was released on $1,000 bail, and charged with one count of disorderly conduct and two counts of simple assault.
Manchester police said they were contacted by security, who reported that a rowdy individual was refusing to leave the Trump event at Manchester Community College.
McMullen then started fighting with the security officers, according to police, allegedly punching one and pulling his tie as they escorted him from the auditorium.
When police arrived, officials say that McMullen spit at an officer.
"McMullen allegedly refused to comply with Officer McDonald's request to cease his loud and boisterous outbursts of profanity directed toward would be speaker, Donald Trump," Manchester police said.
He wasn't the only protester at the Trump event. Others held signs decrying Trump's remarks about Mexicans during his presidential announcement.
McMullen is scheduled to appear at a Manchester court on July 22.
