NH Union Leader Does Not Endorse Republican For First Time In 100 Years
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – For the first time in 100 years, the largest newspaper in New Hampshire is not endorsing the Republican presidential nominee.
The New Hampshire Union Leader opted not to endorse Republican nominee Donald Trump.
In a Thursday editorial, the newspaper also declined to endorse Democrat Hillary Clinton, opting instead to back Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.
Publisher Joseph McQuaid had strong words about Trump in the editorial.
"The man is a liar, a bully, a buffoon," McQuaid wrote. "He denigrates any individual or group that displeases him. He has dishonored military veterans and their families, made fun of the physically frail, and changed political views almost as often as he has changed wives."
McQuaid added that Clinton represents the status quo that voters are fed up with.
Johnson is running on the Libertarian ticket with former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld.
