Dolphins' Chris McCain Vows On Twitter To 'Crush Brady'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Everybody wants to be somebody.
Today's example of this fact comes from Dolphins linebacker Chris McCain. With only a few days to prepare for the Patriots on a short week, the second-year pro has ramped up the trash talk via his Twitter account.
McCain changed his Twitter picture to a photo of him crushing Tom Brady's head. Look out, Tommy!
Noticing that his avatar drew some attention, McCain went on a mini-spree of tweets to double-down on his hate for the Patriots, which is apparently "personal."
Kick rocks, nerds!
McCain then introduced the world to the most adorable dolphin emoji!
McCain, by the way, was inactive for Sunday's big win over the Texans. It looks like he was welcoming a little baby into the world, which is nice. On the season, he's made zero tackles in the three games for which he's dressed. Last year, he recorded four total tackles, including that sack of Tom Brady, and he also blocked a Patriots' punt in the Dolphins' Week 1 win in Miami.
So maybe it's "personal" because "personally" that was the only game that McClain actually did anything? I don't know, who can say?
Typically, this doesn't end well for opponents. Any sort of trash talk gets sent through the bulletin board cycle at Gillette, and it typically manifests itself in the form of an edge that opponents really didn't need to give the Patriots. Remember when Anthony Smith guaranteed a Steelers win over the Patriots, and Brady went on to embarrass the safety all night long?
A more apples-to-apples comparison to McCain's Twitter campaign came from Mario Williams. Shortly after signing with the Bills, Williams changed his Twitter avatar to an image of him dressed as Super Mario throwing a fireball at a Tom Brady goomba.
In the seven games vs. Buffalo since then, the Patriots are 6-1, and Brady has completed 61 percent of his passes for an average of 271 yards per game while throwing 15 touchdowns and two interceptions. Williams has three sacks in those seven games.
As it turns out, Twitter pictures can't really stop Tom Brady -- not even ones from #BillsMafia.
Chances are, Brady won't be too distressed by McClain's Twitter picture, though it's very likely that Brady will be firing off a rated-PG burn of the Dolphins this week on his Facebook page. That's more Brady's speed.
