Dogs Found Shot To Death Execution-Style In New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD (CBS) - A gruesome discovery in New Bedford has investigators offering up a $1,000 reward for information leading to the person who shot two pet dogs execution-style.
"Every owner in your audience knows that when a dog is gone missing, they're looking for it and wondering where it is. In this particular case, I think the owners are quite upset," says the MSPCA's director of law enforcement, Peter Gollub.

A pedestrian found the 5-year-old Chihuahua shot in the head, and 14-year-old golden retriever shot twice in the back through to the chest February 13th. Veterinarians with the Anchor Animal Hospital in Dartmouth turned a bullet fragment over to investigators.
"As a veterinarian, I just can't fathom how somebody would do something like this," says Dr. Peter Gollub. "I think we should try to find out who it is, because the next step is shooting a human."
Investigators say the dogs belong to two different owners. The veterinarian was able to help officers find the golden retriever's owner because it had a microchip. He says the owner told investigators the dog went missing one month earlier.
